Packing List for a School Trip to Singapore

Packing for a school trip abroad can be a big headache as no one wants to overpack and carry around a vast amount of luggage, nor do we enjoy to under-pack and find ourselves smacking our forehead wishing we had packed that one thing. If you are planning a school trip to Singapore and are wondering what to bring and what not to bring, you have come to the right place, as WildChina has built a one-stop Packing List for a School Trip for you.

First, a little background into Singapore and its weather, as this will affect how you pack that valuable space in your pack!

Singapore is one of the best countries to travel to as it enjoys year-round favorable weather conditions. It does not have distinct seasons as the average temperature falls between 23-33°C, making the weather warm but enjoyable for whatever you plan to do. There is a lot of rain throughout the year, so it’s always a good idea to bring a small umbrella with you!

Although Singapore does not have distinct seasons, the summer months of June – August are relatively hot. November to February is the monsoon season with frequent tropical downpours, and the torrents are short-lived.

WildChina shares this belief in the importance of travel and has helped schools plan and execute Singapore school trips online and offline. Read on for WildChina’s ultimate packing list for your school trip to Singapore!

Packing List for a School Trip

1.Necessities

    1. Passport with Visa – these documents are the staple of getting onto your flight to Singapore
    2. Vaccination record – From 1 April 2022, all fully vaccinated travelers can enjoy quarantine-free travel to Singapore with simplified COVID-19 measures.
    3. Emergency Contact numbers – can be something as simple as a notebook with a list of emergency contacts in case of an emergency.
    4. Extra facemasks – Despite the easing of facemask rules in Singapore, it is still a good idea to carry a few extra when riding public transportation or visiting crowded areas
    5. A comfortable travel backpack – This will be slightly larger than your average school bag as students will need to carry the necessities to keep them supplied for a multiple-day journey
    6. Singapore Dollars– Although there are many locations in Singapore to exchange currency, including banks and malls, it is always good to arrive prepared!
    7. Make your way to Universal Singapore! Specially designed with Singapore-related attractions, remember to bring an extra facemask, for it will be crowded!

2.Toiletries

    1. Mosquito Repellent – Due to the tropical weather, Singapore is a prime breeding ground for mosquitos year-round; bring some spray with you, and your legs will thank you!
    2. Toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash – although easy to find anywhere in Singapore, bring your own just in case those tiny hotel toothpastes don’t do you justice.
    3. Sunscreen – Singapore is very sunny and hot in the daytime, so if you are walking around outdoors, it’s best to bring some SPF 30+ sunscreen to avoid getting burned.
    4. Hand Sanitizer – It’s always nice to be able to have germ-free hands no matter where you may be
    5. Packets of toilet paper – You can find these anywhere around Singapore, but in case of those emergencies, a small pack of tissues can go a long way
    6. The gigantic obstacle course at Forest Adventure is an immersive experience within a lush and natural environment. The system offers challenges and thrills through a 44-stage aerial adventure through the dense forest. You will be glad you brought that mosquito repellent for this one!

3.Clothes

    1. Running Shoes/ Comfortable walking shoes – You will be doing plenty of walking around Singapore, so bring comfy shoes. Bring a spare pair of shoes as there is plenty of rain, and what could be better than having a dry pair of shoes as your approach the new day?
    2. Walking trousers – Jeans might be a little too warm for the tropical climate of Singapore; a thinner, looser pair of trousers can come just in handy when hanging out in air-conditioned malls or museums.
    3. Comfortable shorts – shorts are one of the essential items to bring on your school trip to Singapore; the tropical climate means a warm-humid temperature year-round.
    4. T-Shirts – for both girls and boys, it is advised to bring t-shirts when traveling through the great outdoors as they provide protection some female clothing may not provide against the elements.
    5. Towel – A towel can come in handy if you are concerned about those hotel towels or when you go swimming.
    6. Raincoat – As there is plenty of rain in Singapore year-round, a trusty raincoat can be much easier to wear out on your adventure than carrying an umbrella.
    7. The Mega Zip Adventure Park offers one of the most extreme zip wires in Asia, over 450 meters long and 72 meters above sea level; the Mega Zip flying fox lets you whizz over the jungle canopy and the buzz of Siloso Beach. Those comfy walking trousers will certainly come in handy when sitting comfortably in your harness.

4.Electronics

    1. Protective Phone Case – keep that phone protected on your adventure, especially since students may be fumbling around a lot with them for taking photos and videos to document their journey.
    2. Camera (optional) – although most of us will use our phones for this, some students may want to take high-quality photos of their journey to capture memories that will last them a lifetime.
    3. Chargers and battery pack – Ensure your gear is charged whenever you return to camp at night. A battery pack for the phone will come in handy when using that phone a lot throughout the day.
    4. Make sure you have your camera on hand and phones charged for The Battlebox Tour – A Story of Strategy & Surrender. On this guided tour, students will enjoy a journey through an actual WWII command center built in 1936 and stood as a point of resistance to the Japanese invasion of Singapore.

5.Extras

    1. Earplugs/Eye Mask – for the light sleepers out there, these can be essentials on a school trip to China, as staying well rested is key to an enjoyable vacation.
    2. Swimsuit – for those adventures that take students out onto the water, having swim trunks or a swimsuit is critical.
    3. Travel Water Bottle – there are water refill stations in many public modes of transport and public facilities around Singapore; protect the planet and keep yourself hydrated on your travels!
    4. Umbrella – There is rainfall year-round in Singapore, so a small, portable umbrella will come in handy if you choose not to bring a raincoat.
    5. A visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens may require bringing an umbrella or raincoat with you as you will be walking outdoors in one of the most beautiful botanical sites in the world.

6.Will I need to bring first-aid?

    1. All WildChina adventures come ready with first aid if necessary, so students will not need to bring their own. However, if students have primary medication, remember to pack it!
