About this Journey

Located at the mouth of the Yangzte river, this program is designed with a focus on technology and sustainability, as well as helping students understand their roles as global citizens in the world. In addition to teambuilding activities, students will learn HTML elements and structures, take basic CSS classes, and create their own mini Wechat programs. Students will do advanced work for each activity- ensuring they receive the maximum outcome from every activity. We are also able to adjust potential activities based on your curriculum & academic needs.

Itinerary

  • Meet your WildChina Program Guide at Hengshadao.
  • Welcome and Ice-breaking Activity
  • Students start the Coding for Community Project during which they will be prototyping / wireframing and developing their own digital ideas and platforms for sustainability.
  • Our suggestion for Hengshadaois: Pesticide Use Education and Transformation
    • Our instructors work with students to brainstorm ideas about what tech or digital property would be most beneficial to the area/community. Students are encouraged to consider what is helpful, respectful, and sustainable in coming up with project suggestions and ideas. Then, students will be involved in a simulation of the day-to-day work of an actual digital services company where they gain an in-depth understanding about how to drive a digital project from conceptualization to execution. Simultaneously, students gain hard skills such as Designing and reusing components, Understanding mobile and desktop layout creation, HTML elements and structure, Text editors, Basic CSS classes and stylesheets, Basic HTML syntax through practical workshops and training. For programs that last a duration of more than 2 days students have the option to learn to create their own Wechatmini programs.
  • Coding for Community Project Presentations. The projects will be judged solely by local stakeholders varying in occupation, age group, and socioeconomic status.
